Meetings

Meetings are every Thursday at the Aviat Club Port Moresby, 6.30 pm for a 7 pm start, and dinner is included. Our meeting’s are not for the feint-hearted as the Sergeant’s session can be quite inspiring at times. Food at the Aviat is high quality and well priced. And the bar is always well-stocked. You will be welcomed, so come along and enjoy the company.

Fundraising

Our main fundraising event each year is the Melbourne Cup event, which is the first Tuesday of each November. We hold other events, such as Gala nights at the Moresby Arts Theatre or Paradise Cinema and occasional evenings of live entertainment. We also have a number of kind sponsors who assist the club in various ways (LINK TO SPONSORS)

WHAT IS ROTARY?

Paul Harris began the idea of Rotary on the 23rd Feb 1905 in Chigago for friendship and fellowship among business people. The first project in 1907 was installing public toilets in Chicago. Now there are 1.2million members worldwide, and more than 34,000 Rotary clubs in over 200 countries.

Members believe in a commitment to Service Above Self.
Rotarians work to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education and alleviation of poverty.

Rotary volunteers help provide clean water, combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, assist at disasters, assist schools, facilitate job training, and help eradicate polio and malaria.
The Rotary Foundation with funds of over US$200million (K600M) today provides US$8million a year by way of grants towards rotary activities and projects. Polio Plus is perhaps the biggest and best known Rotary Project now done in partnership with WHO and the Bill Gates Foundation. RAM, Rotary Against Malaria, a home grown PNG Project is another major and worldwide project. Disaster Recovery around the world benefits from Rotary’s Shelter Boxes.
